Will AI have an impact on businesses post-COVID-19? – Hani Zeini shares three AI uses

The world is combatting one of the critical battles of human existence – the COVID-19 war. Healthcare workers and scientists are trying to arrive at a solution. After weeks of keeping their shutters down, organizations are moving out gradually from the extended lockdowns. As restrictions are starting to ease up, business pressures are increasing.

Few IT companies, retail stores, and other businesses have resumed work for crucial functions. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an essential tool that’s being used presently for research and analysis. Companies are depending on it for carrying on a business during and in a post-COVID-19 world.

Hani Zeini throws light on how businesses can use AI

The risk of contamination isn’t over! Hence, companies need to manage their SOP (Standard operating procedure) to secure employees and resolve risks. Hani Zeini, an entrepreneur in the financial segment, shares few ways on how businesses can leverage AI during and after the global pandemic.

1.      Tools for promoting social distancing

Many start-ups, such as Landing AI, have come up with an AI-enabled system to monitor employees so that they maintain safe distance during work. Through video content analysis, such tools can suggest when office staff and employees are disobeying the social distancing rules. Other service providers have come up with tools using which employees can check the distance they are maintaining between one other while working. Furthermore, businesses might utilize the space in their office the moment employees start to visit the workplaces soon to promote social distancing. Companies can use AI tools for social distancing to facilitate the process.

2.      Tools to automate the sanitation methods

Disinfecting the offices and its premises is a crucial fixture till the pandemic ends. Automating the sanitation methods can provide increased safety. To reduce the scopes of contamination while carrying on with important hygienic practice, autonomous cleaning robots can replace the staff.

Some companies have created floor cleaning robots for commercial facilities and warehouses. Brands that have come up with UV Disinfection Robots are supplying the same to hospitals to get used for daily cleaning. Furthermore, the bots have played a crucial role in providing security for frontline healthcare workers. And as business houses and organizations are leveling up the cleaning protocols, using robots for sterilizing objects from time to time is a good idea.

3.      AI tools to help in roster management

The HR teams across all industry verticals are succumbing to pressure as they manage employees during this crisis. Working remotely has its issues. But resuming office might lead to further problems. Scheduling employees and staff to work for mandated tasks will need exclusive planning during and after the pandemic phase. Some organizations have AI tools for roster management to help with complex scheduling.

A Norway based company has created an AI-tool that fills employee shifts automatically. One can use it to make use of ML (Machine Learning) and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Processing) for matching with employee competency for apt working shift alignment on slots available.

The impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) is being felt by all businesses around the world. Leaders are navigating a broad range of interrelated issues that span from keeping their employees and customer safe, shoring-up cash and liquidity, reorienting operations and navigating complicated government support programs.

Businesses will depend on AI to arrange daily tasks, even after COVID-19, as safety protocols must be adhered to. The examples mentioned above are a few ways in how the business sector is getting prepared to use AI in the days to come.
