1: Individual eyelashes – More durable
To get started, go to your favorite beauty or pharmacy and buy a set of “individual tabs”, these are the tabs that come small bunches of 5 to 10 fibers. You will usually get about 20 clusters per pack and come with a small adhesive tube. These types of lashes are more wear and more natural in appearance compared to lashes that are just a strip of lashes.
2: Get the glue out
Making this process easy is what will make it more effective. To that end, squeezing around a ten-cent-sized glue balloon to dip lashes while applying is easier than getting glue from the tube whenever you need it. For this process, the transparent and black glue works just as well on all colored lashes.
3: Use tweezers for handling
A pair of sloping tweezers will work better when you pick up your eyelashes and are much more accurate than using your fingertips. To apply lashes, pick them up by the tips with the tweezers, then gently dip the back end (the end where they are in a cluster in) into the glue you have set aside. Aim for a thin, even coating, as that will affect the way they stick to your real lashes.
4: Apply at the top not below the lashes
Once you have properly coated the back end of the lashes with the glue, take the tweezers and gently, but firmly, the lashes on top of the upper eyelid lashes. You want the glue to stick to your real lashes as well as the lid. For best results, start from the outer corner of the eye and work toward the center.
5: Keep looking straight
This may seem like common sense, but it is often neglected when applying lashes. You need to keep your eyes open and look in a mirror to see if you’re applying your lashes evenly.
6: The less you lash out the better
The old saying is still true, less is always more. To keep your look natural but dramatic, try using only four to five individual lashes per eye. You want the length to be on the outer edges of the eye and the effect to be more subtle (that is, your own lashes) toward the center of the eye.
7: Fix any tab
While you are applying your lashes, you can get one that is crooked or just doesn’t look good, throw it away and try it again. In each tab package, there are many, so don’t try to reuse one that just doesn’t work.
8: Camouflage and Disguise
Now that your lashes are on and look symmetrical in each eye, it’s time to disguise your work. Pastel eyeliner applied with an angle brush works best for this step. After the glue is dry, dip the angular brush into the cake lining and slide along the lash line where the glue and lashes meet the lid.
9: Finish with Mascara
After applying the cake lining to both caps, take your favorite mascara and apply at least two layers. This is probably the most important step because it is to mix the fake lashes in your real lashes and it acts as a second adhesive so that the fake eyelashes stay on. Definitely don’t skip this step.

When you’re ready to remove your eyelashes, without taking anything out of your own, you’ll need a good eye remover. A personal favorite is a liquid-to-foam eye makeup remover because the foam is activated without the use of water and can be left to rest in the area where needed for a few minutes before rinsing. To remove all eyelashes and makeup, you may need to repeat the process a few times.
This technique works great for any occasion and will make you the envy of all your friends the next time you go out. As with any makeup or cosmetic, the practice always makes perfect, especially with false eyelashes. We recommend you book about 30 minutes to practice a couple of times before using your lashes in public to make sure the look is natural and the lashes stay on for the entire duration. Keep in mind, for eye health, you should remove your eyelashes after each use, never go to sleep in them.
