Cyber Tips 4 You – Cyber Security Agency of Singapore

When Singapore becomes an intelligent nation, technology will become more and more prevalent in our lives, changing our way of working, living and doing things. Thus, it is essential for Singaporeans to benefit from the fundamental know-how of effective cyber practises. The Singapore Cyber Security Agency (CSA) has partnered to develop the second national Cybersecurity Awareness Campaign together with the Cyber Security Awareness Alliance (CSA). This year, “Cyber Tips 4 You” is the topic. In this case, SPtel.com will help you to get the secure internet.

Always willing to improve:

The CSA carried out various on-site questionnaires at the 2017 launch ceremony. The findings and outcomes of the two CSA public sensitivity surveys have shown that respondents agree that everyone has a role in cybersecurity. At the same time, though, progress may still be made when cybersecurity measures are really adopted. For instance, inadequate password management practises or software upgrades are neglected. Some respondents said that they want more knowledge on cybersecurity and assistance about how to defend oneself effectively. The Cyber Suggestions 4 You campaign therefore focuses on four major cybersecurity tips for the public:

  1. Use software to prevent viruses.

  2. Two Factor Authentication (2FA)

  3. Use strong passwords and activate spot phishing indicators.

  4. Software update as soon as you can

This campaign focuses on raising the awareness of Singaporeans of the significance of cybersecurity and providing four basic cybersecurity recommendations that will help them remain secure online. Each measure that we take to protect our own online environment will go a long way to safe and secure our cyberspace.’

Other Cyber Tips for the Singaporean citizens:

Keep Your Software up to date:

Ransomware assaults have been a prominent attack vector for organisations and consumers in 2017 as we have seen from the above statistics. The patching of obsolete software, including operating systems as well as apps, constitutes one of the most significant recommendations in cyber security. This enables significant vulnerabilities used by hackers to access their devices to be removed. Here are a couple of fast recommendations to start:

  • Turn on your device’s automated system updates.

  • Enter automatic security updates on your desktop web browser.

  • Maintain updated your online browser plug-ins such as Flash, Java, etc.

Use Anti-virus protection and firewall:

The most common approach for combating malicious assaults was Anti-virus (AV) protective software. AV software inhibits the entry of your device and compromises your data by malware or other dangerous viruses. Use trustworthy suppliers’ anti-virus software and run just one AV device. It is also necessary to use a firewall to protect your data from harmful assaults. A firewall helps to filter hackers, viruses and other dangerous activities on the internet and identifies the traffic that can be entered into your device. The respective firewalls of Windows and Mac OS X are appropriately titled Windows Firewall and Mac Firewall.

Use a Password Management tool with strong passwords:

Probably you’ve heard about strong internet security passwords. The reality is that passwords are crucial to keep hackers away from your data! Under the revised password policy framework of the 2017 National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
