Are you looking to migrate to Australia and live with your partner? If so, you will need to get a partner visa. This can be a complicated process, but it can be much easier with the help of an experienced partner visa 820 agent.

This guide will discuss the different partner visas available and the steps involved in obtaining one. So, whether you are just starting on the process or are already in Australia on a temporary visa, this guide will help.

Different Partner Visa Category

Australian citizens and permanent residents or eligible citizens of New Zealand can apply for a partner visa under this category. The following visa is available:-

There are three main categories for partners: married, engaged/de facto and those who do not identify but live in what’s known as “de facto” unions (which include same-sex couples).

If You Are in Australia

Partner visa will allow you to come and go as needed for up two years, but it’s not a permanent solution. If granted, the application process can take about three months until approval or rejection notification, so plan accordingly.

Partner permanent visa (subclass 801) – If you have been apart for two years and are still together, it may be time to apply for your partner’s permanent residence. A visa called Subclass 820 allows temporary residents who have reunited with their partners after fleeing traumatic events in danger abroad because of this type of reasoning.

You can remain in Australia, work, and study. You will enrol for Medicare as well. If you are eligible enough – apply under certain conditions- then the Australian citizenship process starts right away.

If You Are Outside Australia

Partner Temporary Visa (Subclass 309) – If you are not an Australian citizen or eligible to live in the country, there is still a chance for your relationship with another person who has residency rights. You can enter Australia as long as they are also willing participants and have their visa ready!

*You may enter Australia and remain until a ruling is made about your permanent visa. You can work, study, or even enrol in Medicare while waiting for this process – but remember that it’s only temporary!

Partner Permanent Visa (Subclass 100) – When you have been in a relationship with your partner for two years and are still together on the temporary visa subclass 309- this may be enough to get either of yourselves permanent residents.

You may enter Australia and remain permanently. Your work, study or travel plans are not restricted by law. In addition, you can enrol in Medicare as long as you meet the eligibility requirements for residency status.

Prospective Marriage Visa (subclass 300)

Suppose you are from overseas and wish to enter Australia before marrying your Australian permanent resident or eligible citizen of New Zealand.

In that case, this is the visa for you. The validity period lasts nine months; during which time both partners in a marriage have their visa automatically extended by 90 days upon entering into another one

With this visa, you can enter and leave Australia as many times necessary before marriage. You also have the option of working or studying. At the same time, in our beautiful country – but please note that if you are moving here solely for these purposes, it would be best to apply early enough. Hence, there’s no delay in processing time.

A reliable lawyer can help ensure your compliance with all the requirements for this process to avoid unwanted delays during the application submission timeline.
