Common Types of Dust Collectors Provided by the Dust Collector Manufacturers

A dust collector is, in essence, a huge machine, which is used to accumulate dust or dirt present in an environment. It can be employed in either an industrial or residential background. You cannot use the same dust collector to serve in both of these aspects.

According to the dust collector manufacturers, each of the types has its own unique features. They can offer a superior experience in either one or two scenarios. A dust collector for your purpose intends that you will need to learn more about their types.

Hopefully, this write-up is going to help you out in this aspect!

#1. Unit Collector

The unit collectors usually come with a smaller size and feature an in-built fan system. Most dust collector manufacturers also integrate a dust gatherer in them for more convenience. These products can be ideal for cleaning up isolated places and dust-producing operations. Owing to their size, the unit collectors are portable. Best part is you can even carry them in your car.

There are two different types of unit collectors available in the market. These are –

  • Fabric Collectors: These are ideal for collecting and eliminating fine dust particles.
  • Cyclone Collectors: Can be used for coursing dust and dirt simultaneously.

#2. Inertial Separators

According to the dust collector manufacturers, inertial separators have the capability of separating dust from gas streams. They usually do so by using a combined force of inertial, centrifugal, and gravitational energy. Currently, there are three classes of inertial separators available out there. Let’s learn more about them.

  • Settling Chamber: The settling chambers generally comprise a large box, which is located in their ductwork. It works by increasing the cross-section capability, which, sequentially, decreases the airstream and helps the heavier dust particles to settle down. These modules usually feature a simple design, but the downside is that they can take up a lot of space!
  • Baffle Chambers: The dust collector manufacturers tend to design the baffle chambers as a form of pre-cleaners. These contain a fixed baffle plate, which can change the direction of the conveying gas stream. The larger particles generally do not pursue the gas stream at all. Instead, they tend to settle down in a dead space.
  • Centrifugal Collectors: The products tend to separate the dust particles from the gas stream by employing a cyclonic action. Due to this reason, the centrifugal collectors are much more powerful than the previous options.

#3. Wet Scrubber

As the name suggests, a wet scrubber usually uses a type of scrubbing liquid to separate the dust particles. While doing this the module allows the liquefied component to come in contact with the gas and make the particles heavier.

This way, it becomes easier for the eliminator to remove the water droplets from the stream of gas. The accumulation of dirty water, then, either gets discharged or cleaned by the product.

#4. Fabric Filters

Also known among the dust collector manufacturers as the Baghouse, the fabric filters are used for eliminating dust particles from dusty gases. Due to the usage of advanced protocols, the models can operate quite efficiently while being cost-effective.

Furthermore, they can also achieve an overall collection efficiency of around 99% for the fine dust particles. The fabric filters generally used a wide array of techniques to separate the specks of dust. These are reverse air, shaking, sonic and pulse jet.

These are some of the common types of dust collectors that can found on the market prevalently. As mentioned before, each of them is quite different from the other. Thus, before buying them, you will need to learn as much as possible about them.

The above basic guidelines will indeed help you choose the best products provided by dust collector manufacturers. Good luck!
