Decorating Your Home With Chandeliers

Chandeliers are the go-to decoration for a luxurious and vintage look of the house other than illuminating the room with warm and cozy vibes. Chandeliers look great only if you pick the right size, length and shape of the chandelier that should complement the theme of the room rather than detract from it.

Before searching for a chandelier you should know the difference between a shaded, glass, candle and crystal fixture and decide which compliments more with the present theme of your house.

  • Crystal dripping Chandeliers are installed for a glamorous and dramatic look. Every piece of crystal reflects light in a different shade.
  • Glass chandeliers are used to give your house an instant facelift in different shapes, styles, and sizes with beauty shining accent.
  • A rustic candelabra are usually used for Candle Chandeliers. Some of them also feature a flickering bulb for a realistic look for burning candles.
  • For a distinct source of light at home or office, shaded chandeliers are the best choice. The hard, medium or soft lighting coverage depends on the thickness and angle of coverage.

Length and width is an important factor in styling the room with chandeliers. You wouldn’t want a too big chandelier for a small space or too small chandelier for a spacious place.  Here are some tips from Chandeliers manufacturers on how to measure the area for a perfect chandelier:

  • To determine the correct diameter of the chandelier measure the width and length of the room and dd both figure together. Then convert the total sum of addition into inches. The final figure of inches should be the diameter of your chandelier.
  • If you want to a chandelier over the dining table then the diameter should be half to three quarters or around 12 inches less in comparison to your table width.
  • The visual weight of the chandelier also affect the look of it in the room, visually heavy fixture can appear visually a bit smaller and visually light fixture can appear wider.
  • If a room measures less than 10′ x 10′ the fixture should be 17″ to 20″ wide.
  • If a room measure 12′ x 12′ the fixture should be 22″ to 27″ wide.
  • If a room measures 14′ x 14′ the fixture should be 24″ to 32″ wide
  • The length of the chandelier depends on the placement. For example, the foyer chandelier should be at least 7 feet above the ground but with an 8-foot ceiling, there should be a gap of 30 inches from the bottom of the chandelier to the table surface.

Lastly, if you are thinking of installing a chandelier at home, you should also be well prepared to clean it seasonally or occasionally. It only sparkles when the ornament is clean and a typical one should be cleaned at least once a year. You plan your chandelier cleaning according to its design and use lint-free cloths. You should also remember the complex hanging pattern of the chandeliers to prevent easily pick up fingerprints and keep the power off.
