Fun Business Trip Ideas on the East Coast

Traveling from Main to Florida on U.S. Highway 1 is a stretch of 2,390 miles. The New England states, Mid-Atlantic States, and Southern states all have different terrain, weather, and opportunities to do fun things with your company. Here are some ideas for traveling along the East Coast.

New England

When visiting Maine, stop in the quaint town of Bar Harbor, located on Mount Desert Island. Many people love taking whale watching tours in the Gulf of Maine where you’ll see the largest animals, the Humpback whales. It’s simply spectacular to see a whale breaching the ocean.

Passing through Vermont, stop in to visit Shelburne Farms on Lake Champlain. Not only is there an Inn where you can stay, but the 1,400 acre farm is an actual working farm. You’ll be able to visit the dairy that produces cheese and milk products, along with walking trails, and a fabulous restaurant. People love the tractor wagon shuttle that goes to the Farmyard. You will be able to interact with chickens, donkeys, rabbits, goats, and cows.

There are many things to do in Boston, but something that is loads of fun is the duck tour. Not only will you see some of the most famous landmarks, such as: Beacon Hill, Boston Common, Copley Square, and the Prudential Tower, but you’ll get to enjoy a boat ride in the Charles River. The scenic view of Boston and Cambridge is spectacular!.

Mid-Atlantic

Delaware is home to the Brandywine Zoo, located in Wilmington on the Brandywine River. It may be small (only 4.7 acres), but it’s the only zoo in Delaware. The zoo participates in the Species Survival Plan and has an array of mammals, birds, reptiles, and invertebrates. Here is an example of what you’ll find: Capybara, Golden Lion Tamarin, Red Panda, American Bald Eagle, Cinnamon Teal Duck, Red-billed Toucan, Mossy Prehensile-Tailed Gecko, and an Italian Honey Bee.

Swallow Falls is a beautiful park located along the Youghiogheny River in Maryland, just 10 miles north of Oakland. You’ll love the 1.25 mile trail that winds through the park where you’ll see the majestic Muddy Creek Falls. It’s a 53 foot high waterfall among the tall hemlock trees. It’s a nice break from being in the city.

Step back into history and visit George Washington’s Mount Vernon estate, found in Virginia overlooking the Potomac River. There are tours of the mansion, gardens, galleries, and farm animals. After a day of walking, take some time for a dip in some inground pools near Virginia to enjoy some cool water and relaxation.

Southern States

One of the best boardwalks on the East Coast is found in Myrtle Beach. It’s a great place for company fun as there are plenty of restaurants, shops, and entertainment for everyone. Ride the famous Skywheel, 200-feet high overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in an enclosed, climate controlled gondola. Whether you ride during the day or evening, you’ll have a spectacular view of the coastline.

Charleston, South Carolina is a charming city on the Atlantic coast. One of the most fun things to do in Charleston is to take a narrated buggy ride through the city. There are several different rides to choose from, depending on length, but you’ll pass through the Historic District on quaint cobbled streets, viewing mansions, gardens, and churches, all dating back to Civil War times.

Cape Canaveral is the home of the Kennedy Space Center and the Air Force Space and Missile Museum. The center is organized into mission zones. Take a bus tour inside the gates to view working spaceflight facilities and historic launch sites. You’ll also be able to visit the permanent home of the space shuttle Atlantis. As a learning experience, you’ll find out what’s going on now and what’s projected for the future.
