GRE Course- Everything You Want to Know about It

Graduate Record Exam or GRE is a standardized program that enables students to appear in different types of graduate courses in foreign universities, especially that of the US. There are lots of countries where you can go through the gre prep for appearing in that examination. Eligibility for GRE Test

This is the first thing that students want to know about a course. Actually, there are no specific eligibility criteria to take the GRE course. Any applicants can apply for the curse and the test, no matter what their age and qualification are. What they need to do is to fulfil the criteria of the admission in the particular institution where the students are applying.

Syllabi for GRE Test

You will find two formats of GRE test-

  • GRE General Test
  • GRE Subject Test

The syllabus of the GRE test is different for both the format. In the GRE General Test, a student’s performance is measured by verbal reasoning, analytical and critical thinking, quantitative reasoning, and writing skills. On the other hand, the GRE Subject Test is concerned about the particular fields, chosen by the candidates.

Test Pattern of GRE Test

The most common test format of this exam is the computer-based online test format. But, the paper-based format is also available in several centres where the previous facility is not available. The test is of 3 hrs 40 minutes. The entire examination is divided into six sections and candidates get a 10 minutes-break after the first three sections.

How to Register for GRE

There are certain steps to follow while it comes to the registration for GRE-

  • First, you need to create a ‘My GRE Account’
  • You will find four ways to register for GRE- online, mail, fax and phone registration
  • Choose the most suitable way for you
  • For the GRE Subject Test, candidates can go for online and mail registration process

Test Dates of GRE

If you pick computer-based GRE Test, you can take it anytime throughout the year, at any Prometric test centres. Within a 12-month period, you can take the GRE test once every 21 days for five times. It also applies if you have cancelled the score of your previous test. Once you register by creating ‘My GRE Account’, you are eligible to take the test as per your convenience and preparation.

GRE Score

There are three scores that are evaluated-

  • The verbal reasoning score is on the scale of 130-170 with –point increment
  • The quantitative reasoning score is on the scale of 130-170 with 1 point increment
  • The analytical score is on the scale of 0-6 with half-point increment.

You will receive your scores within 10-15 days after having the test, through the mail.
