How to Get Hired In 30 Days or Less

Job search is considered hard work; it requires focus and attention and above all determination until you score the ultimate job. Time is one of the most major constraints while applying for jobs, since you need to get hired as soon as possible in order to start earning.

Those bills and debts aren’t going to pay themselves, after all.

Along with the tiring hours of applying for hundreds of jobs without getting any response, comes the hardest part which is rejection. You might not be getting rejected because of any fault of your own, it’s mostly because you are not applying at the right place or you are not selling the value you might add to the company.

Here are some useful tips that might help you get hired in 30 days or less.

1. Make a Plan

Prepare a timeline, set time for each and every task associated with your goal, which is not to become the best Googler in town but to get hired in less than 30 days. Do not spend too much time and effort on a single task. For example, set 40 minutes per day for searching, 10 minutes to set your cv for a particular job and 10 minutes to apply with a cover letter. Set an achievable target of certain applications per day.

2. Decide what you want

Most of the job searches fail because we apply everywhere for everything believing that we might score a hit. Ask yourself what you really want. Write down the specifics like salary package, environment and working conditions such a field job or a desk job. Identify your skills and look for relevant opportunities instead of looking for opportunities and planning on molding yourself for the opportunity. Know why you want to switch or why you want to change your field

3. Do a targeted search

Job vacancies are not available year-round. The job of your dreams might be available during a specific time only, and it might get filled up pretty quickly. But one thing is for sure: a good job post does not wait for anyone, nor comes early when needed.

Always be on the lookout for job opportunities. If you have some specific companies in mind that you want to work for, find out when they open their job posts. Some companies conduct new hiring during specific times of the year. Some companies might be expanding and looking for candidates. Target the companies that you want and get information on when their job posts are opening and what sort of people they’re hiring.

LinkedIn is a great social networking tool for getting to know the company you want to work for. Find out who works there, what the management hierarchy is, what skills do the people working there have, and so on. Having done your homework can go a long way in scoring you your dream job.

4. Show your value

After deciding where to apply, arrange your skillset accordingly. Focus on the skills that are relevant to the job you are applying for. Make sure that you sell the relevant skills and the description of your sills show the value that you will be adding to the company you are applying for. Your skillset for a particular job should be clearly defined and you should come out as an exceptional resource for that skillset. Make sure that you also mention experience that is relevant to the skills you are mentioning in your profile.

5. Enhance your social media presence

Make sure your LinkedIn profile compliments what’s mentioned in your application. Keep the profile updated and in order. Almost all the employers these days rely on the info they gather about you through social media. It’s not only LinkedIn that should be up to the mark, your Facebook profile and other social media accounts should also pass through a detailed analysis. To sum it up, you must be ready as far as public info on your social media is concerned.

6. Interact with the professionals

Use social media platforms to interact with professionals from the field you want to apply in. Don’t ask for a job straight away, set a target for yourself, the number of professionals you want to interact with and start a meaningful conversation with them on daily basis. This helps in generating references in the longer run and it also helps you learn about the area you are applying for.

7. Be prepared for the interview

Before entering the interview room make sure you have done a microscopic research on the company, the most important projects its working for and your interviewer who might also be your future manager. Also make a list of questions that you might have from the employer. Asking relevant questions at the end of an interview creates a positive impact on the interviewer.

8. Follow-up

After an interview you will be told when they will contact you if you get shortlisted. Make sure you keep a strong follow-up strategy. This also helps your employer to judge your commitment towards the job. It good to reaffirm your interest that you showed in the interview by following up on each and every job you have applied for.

9. Don’t give up!

Job search is depressing at times, it comes with its share of rejections and nonresponsive. Don’t get bogged down by rejections and work hard to achieve your goal which is to get hired in your dream company in less than 30 days.

I hope you found these tips useful. Remember that a job interview is not much more different than a sales pitch, where you have to sell your skills to your potential employer(s). Always be confident throughout the hiring process, especially during interviews. Ask questions from your interviewer and make them the interviewer! Above all, show a positive persona and the recruiter will have no choice but to consider you, at least for the next part of the hiring process if not for the job outright.

Best of luck for your job hunt!
