Birla Institute of Technology & Science, also known as BITS Pilani, conducts the BITSAT entrance examination, which is meant for the selection of candidates to their courses like B.E, B. Pharm, and M.Sc. BITS Pilani also happens to have branches in Hyderabad, Goa as well as Dubai. Via the BITSAT 2019 exam, BITS Pilani aims at choosing a number of candidates to pursue the various programs on offer.
If you are currently preparing for the BITSAT 2019 exam and are aspiring to enter BITS Pilani, here are a few tips, important topics to note and some of the key books to refer in order to crack the exam.
Exam Pattern
BITSAT 2019 is an online entrance examination with a total of 150 questions to attempt. It is expected to be conducted sometime between 16 May – 26 May 2019. It tests the candidates on subjects, including Physics, Chemistry, English, Logical Reasoning and lastly Mathematics. This exam gives maximum weight to Mathematics with about 45 questions out of a total of 150. There are 4 sections of the entire paper and all the questions are multiple-choice and objective in nature. You can score 3 marks for each correct answer and a negative marking of 1 is assigned for every incorrect answer.
Time Management
If you are looking to crack BITSAT 2019, it is important to note that this exam is all about time management. Although questions that are part of this exam are mostly conceptual in nature, you need to be really quick in solving them. Most of the syllabus is based upon 10+2 concepts and hence you also need to be absolutely clear with your basic concepts. While preparing for BITSAT, you should try and dedicate an equal amount of time to all subjects.
Preparation with Marking Scheme
Different marks are assigned to each of the sections. While it is very important to prepare for all the sections, you don’t need to focus upon sections that are unfamiliar. Keeping aside your weak sections, you can try and focus on your strong points in order to make the maximum out of it. Since there is negative marking involved, you also need to be careful about attempting questions that you are not sure about.
Books to Refer
Some of the recommended books for preparation of BITSAT 2019 include NCERT 11th and 12th books, Pearson Complete Guide for BITSAT and 12 Practice Papers BITSAT 2019 published by GKP. Within the NCERT books, try and cover all the topics in detail. While you refer to these books, it is important to keep revising as much as possible.
Bonus Questions
A set of 12 questions is provided in BITSAT as bonus questions. If you are aspiring to crack the BITSAT 2019 exam, try and cover these questions once your main paper is completed. These carry higher positive marking and hence can help you score well. These questions can only be attempted after the main paper is over and hence you should try and focus on the main paper first. The condition for getting these questions is that you need to complete the main paper before time.
