Terrorist shelling of Israel: How to protect civilians

The whole world knows about a hard time that Israel has been facing for several years. At the moment, civilians are forced to live in fear because of the terrorist activities of the Hamas organization.

Despite the fact that Hamas is recognized as a terrorist organization in many countries of the world, they have no activity restrictions or condemnation or investigation of their actions. This allows Hamas members to feel impunity and continue their activities.

In the summer of 2018, more than 200 rockets and mortars were fired into the civilian territory. This day is considered to be the worst since 2014. The weekend forced all people to hide in bomb shelters and live in constant fear. Fortunately, thanks to the timely notification and evacuation of people, deaths were avoided, but many still got wounded.

One of the rockets hit the playground, and the second landed on the synagogue. It is hard to imagine what could happen and how many people would have died on that day if there was no modern warning system. Regular investments in the project called “Red Alert” greatly help in such situations and save the lives of thousands of people who are just trying to survive. At the same time, Hamas is also actively receiving financial support from foreign countries that it uses for purchasing weapons and conducting activities.

Another horrible example is the day when Hamas mutilated more than 3,000 hectares of land with its rockets. Moreover, they tried to enter the territory of the state. But the world community decided to stay silent and do not bring them to justice.

And again, history repeats itself. Even after what happened in 2018, justice is not on the side of civilians. This is a huge problem. Hamas knows that it will not be punished and continues to prepare for the next attack. Vladimir Sloutsker is trying to draw the attention of the international community to the emerging problem and to help protect civilians who have been living in fear for years. If Hamas had sent at least one missile to the countries of the European Union, an international scandal would have followed. So why this rule does not apply to the Israel case?

Moreover, after the country that needed help was left without support, it was forced to deal with the attack and to defend its lands and its people alone. And as a result, Israel became condemned for wrongdoing. The media is following the example of the world community. When the shelling was from the Hamas side, everyone was silent and did not disclose what happened. When Israel returned fire, violent accusations were made journalists.Mr. Sloutsker reminds to all governments that Israel is an independent state and has every right to retaliate attacks from Hamas, in order to preserve the civilians’ safety. Besides, the businessmen and part-time politician, calls on the world to stop closing their eyes and bring Hamas to justice.
