It may seem a big achievement to launch a hundred apps for thousands of employees but as a recent study says – smaller and targeted app strategy might work in better way. It was found in a study conducted by Apperian that successful enterprise mobile app development projects have been those which were small ones, targeted for small group of employees. In fact those were also proved to be blockbuster app ideas.
There is no doubt that technology companies are showing more interest in adopting mobility in comparison of non-technical companies. Almost 25 percent of participant-companies in the study were from mobility programming background while 11 percent from IT services and consultation organizations, 11 percent from financial services, 7.4 from healthcare, and 6.3 percent from communication sector.
Most of the apps deployed by these companies were aimed at sales and marketing (17.7 percent), field services (15.3 percent), HR (14 percent), office productivity (11.8 percent) and IT utilities (11.5 percent).
The study also shows some companies have implemented more than 100 apps but having a big portfolio that showcase 100 or 200 apps do not always mean success. It was found in the study that some most successful launches were from those companies which released only one or two apps that enabled 100 to 150 people.
These apps have been pretty much successful and scored off the charge with good ROI too. Of course, I do not means that launching fewer apps brings success but launching those fewer apps which have been given all due time required in their development.
It’s good to see that smaller mobile application development companies are able to build such apps which can deliver profound value over the investment.
The lower cost of enterprise mobile app development is changing a lot of things. It decides how and who is going to use these apps. The concept of “disposable app” is getting trend and it will continue also in 2016. It also removes the barrier of adding everything to single app. Because cost is lowering, it has become possible to create one app for particular event.
Also tablet apps are becoming new fashion in enterprise mobile application development. New apps are ready to almost replace the need of laptops for most of the general purpose business computing.
New thoughts are being implemented in mobile app developments particular for those ones which are aimed at enterprise and businesses. Now, mobile apps are becoming almost compulsory for businesses. Let’s see what else is unfolded in this whole year ahead.
