U-19 World Cup Tournament in South Africa
It is a limited-overs (20 overs for each side) cricket tournament organized by ICC or International Cricket Council. This year, the U-19 World Cup 2024 tournament started from January 19 and will end on February 11. South Africa is hosting the tournament. It is the 15th edition of the Under-19 World Cup.
So far, India had a great U-19 World Cup campaign. They have snatched 3 wins from their 3 group stage matches and topped Group A to qualify for the Super Six. India started their U19 journey with a victory over New Zealand in Bloemfontein. New Zealand finished second to Pakistan in Group D.
The group stage is complete as the U-19 World Cup enters the Super Six, the second stage of the tournament. The participating teams were divided in four groups and three teams from each group advanced to the Super Six stage. Afghanistan, Scotland, Namibia and the United States were the first four to be eliminated in the group stage. The remaining teams in Groups A and Group D will form one group and the remaining teams in Groups B and Group C will be in another group. As a result, 12 teams will compete in the Super Six for four semi-final spots.
The qualifying teams will carry forward their points that they earned against other qualifying teams in their group. Therefore, India has a very good chance of playing the semis after topping the Group A. It means, they had an advantage of four points. They won their first Super Six match with New Zealand and also handed South Africa a defeat. New Zealand lost to Pakistan in their group match but won against Afghanistan and Nepal.
