What To Do In A Plumbing Emergency

Every homeowner or business facility manager experience plumbing emergencies for at least once in a lifetime. No matter how solid your plumbing maintenance is or how frequently to take care of your plumbing network or how extra-careful you are, accidents are simply accidental. The best thing, then, is to be prepared by putting the right measures in place. In that direction, I have explained some of the things you should do whenever you find yourself in a plumbing emergency. Note that you’ll still need to call in an expert like Flo-Well Drainage in the end. These measures are just like first aid.

Clogged Sink

One of the most common plumbing emergencies clogging. Any passage of any sort can get clogged at any time. The most painful thing is that this happens at the time when it is least expected. When you have grease or other soft material cogging your sink in the kitchen or in the bathroom, the best thing you should do is flush it with boiling water. Two better options are the application of clog removal solution and the application of hydro-jet water to clear off the clogs which can be a buildup of mildew or hairs in most cases.

Leaky Faucets

The other day, our kitchen faucet leaked out the entire water in the tank. Yes, and that wasn’t made up. We noticed the little leak before leaving home for our daily activities and all we did was patch it up with a piece of chewing gum. We came back to find the faucet totally removed and the whole house in a total mess. What am I driving at? Don’t patch leaky faucets and leave it a that. The patching up is just to slow down the leak while the repair team comes into your home.

Burst Pipes

Pipes are planted not only on the inside of the house but also outside on your landscape. Activities that can burst external pipes are the natural growths and extensions of underground roots of trees which extend to attack underground pipes. Thirsty rodents like hedgehog and snakes can burrow into the earth to break buried pipes in search of water. If you notice a burst pipe, call in a repair service or get a complete installation to replace the faulty pipes.

Broken Water Lines

Water lines can break after a long period of contact with high temperature and low temperature. That is the more reason most homeowners prefer using temperature-proofed water lines or use heat-resistance devices to protect their water lines from getting damaged. If you notice damage in your water lin, however, call a repair service company.

Things You Should Do…

  • Shut off the water; the first thing you should always do whenever you’re dealing with an emergency is to shut off the water supply. That way, you avoid risks.
  • Confirm it’s an emergency; first, check to confirm that case at hand is close to any of the previously discussed in this post. After that, call your drainage services company to discuss your situation in order to find out if it’s truly an emergency.
  • First aid and call; finally, put the right first aid measure in place as previously discussed and then call your repair service provider to save the day.
