Your Checklist for Setting Up a New Office

If you’re ready to make the big move from home office to real, bonafide, office in the city centre (or outside, whatever the budget allows for). It’s a big step, not unlike buying your first home. The likelihood is that you will need a good cash flow and a strong work ethic in order to ensure that it actually works out in the end.

So, with that in mind, here is everything you need to know in order to make sure that you set up your office in the right amount of time with little to no hassle!

Make a List

The first thing you need when it comes to any kind of office move or business change is to have a plan. And a plan needs a list. So, make sure that you prepare a thorough and comprehensive list that actually helps you to set out everything you need moving forward. This way, you should be much less likely to remember anything that you may have forgotten.

Especially as it’s all too easy to miss something out in such a big move.

Make sure your list includes something along the lines of what follows in this blog:

Set Out a Floor Plan

The thing about setting up a new office is that you will need a good floor plan. Desks, clutter and the like can all become overwhelming. Especially in a new office where you don’t yet actually have anywhere to put everything. If you already have a plan for desks, storage and the like then it makes it that much easier.

Find Providers for Everything Beforehand

Broadband, telephone lines, electricity, heating; there’s a lot that goes into making an office function on a day to day basis. And once you’re already in a space, you will want to get set up as quickly as possible. Meaning that waiting two to four weeks for everything to be set up isn’t necessarily worthwhile.

Buy Furniture and Office Equipment

Pre-buying all of your office furniture and equipment can be one of the best ways to try and save a little money, as well as making the move-in day that much smoother. The easiest way to set up your office with furniture and the right equipment from day one is to do so using second-hand furniture.

Second-hand furniture is less expensive, it provides a good level of use and can even be considered environmentally-friendly (recycled). It can even be worthwhile getting garden coffee tables instead of tables and the like, as a funky but functional alternative.

Final Thoughts

With all that in mind, you should be able to set up your very own office in a matter of no time – whether in a bespoke countryside establishment or in the heart of the city. Keep everything you need in mind, make sure that you have everything prepared and pre-planned. Then you should be able to have an office set up in a matter of no time.

And then, all you need to do is make sure that you have the necessary clients and staff to fill the place to the brim!
