Middle and lower portion of chest pain in Corona

In this post, we discuss how chest pain can occur as a part of the symptoms of the coronavirus. We’ve also highlighted how chest pain can signal other health problems.

Can the middle and lower portion of chest pain because of corona?

There is a possibility for the middle and lower parts of the chest to pain if a person has contracted the coronavirus. However, in most cases, the middle and lower portion of chest pain in Corona is largely associated with chronic/frequent coughing and wheezing.

In other words, chest pain doesn’t occur as a single symptom but due to repeated coughing. Repeated coughing/wheezing can tire the muscles of different parts of the chest, thus resulting in some form of chest pain and/or tightness. It’s important to note that chest pain as a part of a coronavirus’s symptom occurs rarely.

This leads to another question, what does chest pain feel like during coronavirus? The chest pain can be similar to the ones experienced during frequent coughing caused by common respiratory problems such as cold, asthma, and chronic bronchitis.

Difference between normal chest pain and COVID chest pain

The difference between normal chest pain and Coronavirus-related chest pain is practically none. This is because chest pain doesn’t occur as a standalone symptom during coronavirus. Instead, it occurs as a result of chronic coughing caused by infection of the upper respiratory tract.

Symptoms of the coronavirus, other than coughing, include frequent headaches, fever, loss of smell or taste, sore throat, muscle pain, chills, and difficulty in breathing.

Chest pain due to other health problems

Many people may experience chest pain due to the anxiety surrounding the rapid spread of the coronavirus. Anxiety can trigger stress hormones which, in turn, may lead to pain and tightness in the chest. Chest pain can also occur due to reasons/respiratory problems that were already prevalent before the pandemic. Some of such include asthma, bronchitis, cold, and seasonal allergy.
